Food

We want you to remember what you were served at Skjolden Hotel. We have a skilled team of chefs with creative freedom in the kitchen. At our table you will be served exciting and tasteful plates based on what the season offers.

Together with our chefs you will find our host love to explore and experiment with local food and drink treasures, all with the aim of providing you with a great dining experience.

Fresh ingredients

We strongly believe food tastes better when it is locally sourced. On our menu you will find local vegetables and meat from our neighboring farms and our very own garden. We call our local farmers our food heroes.

Our own garden has a large selection of fruit, berries and herbs. Our vegetables are grown in local fields. We offer delicious crayfish from the Lustrafjord and a vast selection of meats, fish and dairy from our neighbours.

Experience Skjolden Hotel

The hotel

Our history starts in 1818 ...

Its been said that the first guest house in Skjolden was run by Rudolf Kramer in 1818. Since then, the hotel changed hands several times until the Galde family ran the place from 1908 to 2013. After the Galde family the hotel was owned by an investor before our current hosts and owners, Siri and Aslak Dalehaug took over in 2015. After 2015 the hotel has undergone significant upgrades to meet modern times and deliver the high quality experiences Siri and Aslak is known for.

The area

Take your time

Our guests often regret not spending more time in Skjolden. The area has so much to offer and we really, truly, honestly recommend having enough time to experience it all. Choose between activities such as glacier hiking in Jostedalen, hiking in valleys or to summits, ski touring or shorter family outings. We are close to idyllic fishing lakes and fjord fishing - and if you prefer to go swimming in the fjord or in our inside pool at Fjordstova, it is right at our doorstep.

The rooms

Mountain or fjord view

The hotel has 42 double rooms and one family room with space for five people. All rooms have fantastic views over the fjord or mountain landscape. Lean back, look out the window and leave the stress of everyday life behind. Our wish is for you to wake up feeling rested and ready for a new day of adventures, good food and smiles - surrounded by the beauty that is the fjord landscape.
